Project Planning
GPCL does not maintain a stock of arrays, therefore each investigator is responsible for the purchase of full packages. Affymetrix arrays are available in minimum package size of 2 arrays. Ilumina are available in packages of 2 chips, each containing multiple arrays. (6 arrays per chip for WG6, 8 for RefSeq8 or 12 for RefSeq12). Any extra arrays will be labeled with PI name and stored until used by the named investigator in another study or for the full extent of their shelf life.
Sample Submission Guidelines
You MUST be a registered user of the GPCL before any work can be processed.
General guidelines:
- RNA must be intact and of good purity.
- 260/280 ratio is 1.8 or higher as measured in 1X TE
- Bioanalyzer RIN >6 (to be assessed by GPCL)
- Tubes must be labeled with simple sample ID on top. Investigator initials and a number work well.
- USE NO TAPE.
- Please submit only the amount of material needed for analysis. Unused material that is not retrieved by your laboratory within a reasonable time frame will be discarded.
- Samples can be brought to the Core Lab facility at 3343 Forbes Ave or to our sample drop off room S534 in Scaife Hall.
- Samples must be accompanied by a gene expression array drop off form indicating the Principal Investigator, contact for this study, array platform and type to be used, service requested and sample specific information.
Submissions for Affymetrix GeneChip analysis
- 3 µg RNA
- Minimum concentration of 250 ng/µl
- Select Affymetrix GeneChip as Platform Requested
- Supply name of specific array type to be used (i.e. 430, 430A...)
Submissions for Illumina BeadChip analysis
- 1 µg RNA
- Minimum concentration of 45 ng/µl.
- Select Illumina Beadchip as Platform Requested
- Supply name of specific array type to be used (i.e. MouseWG6, HurefSeq8...)
If RNA is limited, please contact GPCL to discuss alternative labeling options.
