LCQ Deca
The ThermoFinnigan LCQ Deca XP plus ion trap MS with a Micro ESI is currently available (nanoESI will be available by April 2004). The system is equipped with Multidimensional Liquid Chromatography capability and is referred to as the ProteomeX. This instrument is capable of direct or LC infusion of samples for analysis of protein mixtures or tryptic digests, ICAT and PTM analysis.

4700 Proteomics Analyzer
The ABI MALDI TOF-TOF MS/MS instrument is currently available. It is a tandem mass spectrometer equipped with a MALDI ion source. This instrument is capable of producing MALDI TOF MS spectra for peptide mass fingerprinting and mass determinations of peptides. Further analysis may be performed by selecting ions from the MS spectra and performing MS/MS. The resolution of the instrument, which has a 3.75 m ion flight path, at 2.5kDa is > 12,000, and mass accuracies of ±5 ppm with internal standardization and ±25 ppm with external standardization are routinely achieved.
